Director’s Blog – Aug 2018

I am so excited to begin a new school year after a fun summer spending time with my family! (I had a new granddaughter born, so lots of snuggle time!)

Things have been busy at POP, as we register students, clean, maintain and get supplies stocked so the school is ready for all the kiddos!

In the midst of that, I have been feeling very thankful for Prince of Peace School and the ongoing mission to make a special place for little ones to learn about and experience a loving God through the dedication of our fabulous teachers.

We have a wonderful school that is ready to serve, but it takes a parent’s commitment to train up their child in the Lord and choose Christian education to make it all work together for good!  Since 1983, this partnership has made POP a shining light in our community and a place that friends tell their friends about!

Proverbs 22:6 says to… “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”

We as parents are always training our kids. (Sometimes, we train negatively and unconsciously through our passivity or lack of wisdom.)

However, the Hebrew verb, “train,” refers to “dedicating.”  This verse is focused on intentional, sustained, God-dependent shepherding of our children’s hearts as they grow into adulthood- one in which the children themselves are aware of the parents’ trajectory-setting intentions.  This is not a passive calling for moms and dads!

I believe you as POP parents, are wisely intentional and good shepherds of your children’s precious hearts!  You are the flame that ignites their trajectory towards joyful, peaceful, love-filled lives!
